Little Wombles is a lovely nursery full of kind and empathetic staff. My son has flourished whilst in nursery there and he is now a confident and well socialised little boy. The nurturing care he has received at little Wombles is exemplary and I could not have hoped for a better nursery experience for him. All the staff members are sweet and lovely, always happy to talk about my sons progress and any issues he may be experiencing. The activities my son has been exposed to are both informative and exciting. He is especially taken with nature class, the children grow their own plants which he brings home regularly with great pride. This class has sparked a passion for nature in him which is truly incredible to watch. My son can already write his own name, he is only 3, and he is recognising written letters and numbers, made entirely possible by the patience and enthusiasm of his nursery workers. My husband and I would wholeheartedly recommend Little Wombles nursery to any prospective parent.

Rosanna holds a Level 3 in Children's care, learning and development. She has many years of Nursery experience and is currently working with our toddlers.
We couldn’t recommend Little Wombles highly enough. The staff couldn’t be more friendly and each child are welcomed with smiles and open arms every morning. My daughter is a little shy and the staff were always so good at making her feel so comfortable and bringing out her confidence. It was the best decision to send our two children there and we are going to miss this nursery so much!

We think of Wombles as her home away from home. You’ve had her now from a little 11 month old babe to a rather feisty nearly 5 year old. She has grown into a little lady while in your care, she has learnt things I didn't think were possible in a nursery setting. She can surprise me on a daily basis with the information that she comes out with. Her learning has gone from strength to strength, that is thanks to you and her caregivers at Little Wombles. Some weekends she wants to go to Wombles and is rather upset when I tell her its closed! However, I personally try not be upset that my daughter would rather be with you than me, it just tells me how much she loves it there.
You’ve looked after in ways that I will forever be grateful for. She is now so ready for school and wants to learn so much, you are to thank for that. Without your amazing teaching I would have worried that she would struggle in her first year at school but now I feel that she might be top of the class with her abilities in writing and numbers.
So, a huge thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything that you have done for her.

I just wanted to say a massive thank you to you for looking after my little girl so well over the last couple of years. I never in a million years thought I would feel so happy about her going off to nursery whilst I was at work, but knowing she was spending the days with such lovely, kind, fun and devoted people and seeing her happily skipping off down your corridor to breakfast gave me more joy than I could have ever imagined. You run such a special place.

My daughter has been attending Little Wombles for 2 years since the the age of 6 months. Throughout this time I have been exceptionally happy and very impressed with the level of care that she has received. From the nurturing care she received as a baby to the more educational attention she now receives as a pre-schooler, I could not be happier.
The staff are focused, caring and go out of their way to cater for every child's needs not matter how different. The environment is welcoming, inclusive and provided great stimulation for the children. Activities are varied and always have both a fun and learning element that is admirable - I wish I had the skill and ability to do half as many interesting activities at home with my daughter. Her numeracy and literacy are ahead of some of her friends and I put this down to the great foundation in phonics and numbers that Wombles has given her from a very young age. I have been constantly amazed by the high level of learning and relatively structured education she has received here from an early age.
Nicky's management and leadership of Wombles is in my opinion excellent. She instills parents with a huge amount of confidence in her and the teams ability to provide for their children's needs and this is in my view well founded.
My daughter adores Wombles and in the two years she has been attending she has grown into an incredibly independent little girl who loves to learn new things, which is in no small part due to the lovely care and education that she has received from Nicky and team.

Little Wombles is committed to the inclusion of all children. We believe all children have the right to be cared for and educated to develop to their full potential alongside others. All children are entitled to high quality care and education that enables them to share opportunities and experiences and develop and learn from each other. We provide a positive and welcoming environment where children are supported according to their individual needs and are fully included in all areas of nursery life.
At Little Wombles, our Special Education Needs Co-ordinator is Marta Abreu She can be contacted on 0208 870 2220
Arrange a meeting with our SENCO Marta Abreu
Little Wombles will work with parents to understand the needs of your child. The process of identifying that a child might need additional support or assessment will involve a conversation between nursery and parents or carers at the earliest opportunity. This makes sure that parents and carers are always consulted at every step and kept fully informed about the help their child is given, and the results of that help.
When children have identified SEND before they start at Little Wombles, we work with the people who already know them and use the information already available to identify what their SEN will be in our setting and how we can manage it.
If you tell us you think your child has a SEN we will discuss this with you and look into it. We will share what we discover with you and agree with you what we will do next and what you can do to help your child.
If our staff think that your child has a SEN this may be because they are not making the same progress as other children; for example they may not be able to follow instructions or are not acquiring language at the expected rate. We will make regular observations of your child to monitor their progress.
Should we require further help we will contact the specialist SEND Team.
At Little Wombles each child has a daily diary where staff communicate about the children’s day. Staff give verbal daily feedback to parents. We have regular parents meetings. Staff continually plan next steps for each child and share ideas with parents on how they can support their child at home. If your child is receiving additional support because of a Special Educational Need or disability, you will receive a copy of your child's Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan each time it is reviewed. This gives details of the specific outcomes your child is working towards and how we can work, in partnership, to help your child achieve these outcomes.
The children are given regular opportunities to look through their Learning Journeys and share them with their parents celebrating their achievements.
Each child is assigned a key worker who builds a relationship with the child and observes and monitors their progress. Observations inform the next steps for each child. Staff use trackers to monitor progress. These are regularly updated and again inform future planning. Progress is reviewed at regular parent meetings.
We will adapt our learning experiences to make them accessible to all children by making them easier or more challenging or using additional resources or outside agencies if they are required.
The child’s Key worker builds a relationship with the child and will help them to settle in the new environment, build confidence and meet their individual care and educational needs.
Please refer to our Behaviour Policy
Our staff have training or experience in adapting to a range of SEND and will undergo additional training if required.
The setting is all on one level with disabled access and disabled toilet facilities. Any special physical requirements will be assessed individually and equipment will be provided to meet those needs with the help of the Local Authority SEND services.
If appropriate children will be taken on daily outings with the other children and relevant risk assessments undertaken.
Little Wombles offers a standard 16 hour settling period spread over a week or two weeks. This is agreed with parents in advance and can be adapted for individual needs. During this time the child will get to know their Key Worker.
Parents complete an ‘About Me’ form so that staff can get to know the child quickly and help them to settle as quickly as possible.
If your child is moving on to school we arrange visits with the future school and arrange meetings with future teachers to make them aware of the additional needs and ensure additional support is in place.
When moving rooms in the setting children spend time with their new Key Worker to get to know them. Because we are a small Nursery, all staff know each of the children very well and are aware of their needs. The child will already be very familiar with the setting as they spend time in each room throughout each day.
What specialist services from outside does the Nursery use to help meet children’s needs and how do you work together?
We get support from Local Authority services when required such as SEN Specialists, Educational Psychologists, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy etc. We met with them regularly to review progress and set new targets.
We will seek any required support from external agencies and with parental permission administer any required medication.
Firstly you should arrange a meeting with your child’s Key Worker. If you are not happy that your concerns have been addressed you should then contact the SENCO or Principal.

Little Wombles is truly the very best at providing a nurturing, caring, attentive and loving environment for little people. What really worked for our child was that he was taken as an individual and the team patiently worked around settling him into Little Wombles life as well providing activities to suit his developmental needs.
There is always a lot of communication from the Little Wombles team and I particularly appreciate seeing photos taken every week so I can see all the happy activities my child has done each day. The menus are healthy, nutritious and balanced and has also meant that my son has been able to get to know new tastes as well as being involved with the cooking himself!
I would not hesitate to recommend Little Wombles for any baby or child as the team provide more than a nursery environment but a home from home with care, attention and more.
